In Iceland, Addi, 14, is raised by his mother, who is quite into the paranormal. He takes under his wing Balli, an introverted and lonely teenager, victim of bullying at school. Little by little, Balli joins Addi’s group of friends, idle teenagers left to their own devices.

The beautiful creatures is a harsh but quite exciting film, which uncompromisingly evokes violence among adolescents, the brutality that young people are capable of at this age (in harassment, verbal aggression, gratuitous violence to impress or assert themselves in the group , behaviors playing with limits or even defying death… not to mention all forms of violence suffered by adults, or the wounds left by the violence suffered). This sometimes results in very crude scenes, some impressive outbursts of violence. And it is remarkably accomplished.
