British actress Barbara Leigh-Hunt, who notably starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s penultimate film Frenzyhas just died at the age of 88, announced his family.

Barbara Leigh-Hunt, who won an award for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s film, died peacefully at her home in Warwickshire, not far from Birmingham, England, her relatives said.

Barbara Leigh-Hunt was also praised for her interpretation of Lady Catherine de Bourgh in the famous adaptation ofPride and Prejudice broadcast in 1995 on the BBC. Colin Firth plays Darcy.

From Shakespeare to “Billy Elliot”

Barbara Leigh-Hunt began acting in 1953. During her career, which spanned 70 years, she performed with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company but also on London’s West End and on Broadway.

In the theater, she has notably performed the classics of Shakespeare, Hamlet has Henry V passing through Le Roi Lear et A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In the cinema, we could see her in particular in Billy Elliot in 2000.

Her most famous role remains that of Brenda Blaney in the thriller Frenzy. According to Variety, his character is raped and murdered in what is considered the most violent scene of Alfred Hitchcock’s entire career.
