Casablanca: And 17 for the International Theater and Cultures Festival
Descriptive text here

Perhaps only the boards allow new encounters. From May 15 to 25, Casablanca will meet with the 17th edition of the International Theater and Cultures Festival. Around ten shows on the menu, including six in local colours. Two tributes are also on the program. An opening tribute for the actress Noura Skalli and a posthumous closing tribute for the late Lahcen Zinoun.

The result of a partnership between the Fondation des Arts Vivants (FAV), the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council and the SDL Casa Event et Animation, this meeting coincides, in fact, with two decades of existence of the FAV. As with previous editions, the program promises. With this eclectic side, of discovery, but above all of sharing. The president of the Foundation, Noureddine Ayouch, is, as usual, enthusiastic. For him, the choice of timing is not trivial. It has a spring feel, but takes into account other considerations, including, in particular, other events that fall during this period. As a Com man, he willingly lent himself to requests from the media. We are going beyond the framework of Anfa to embrace other places in the metropolis, with the aim of reaching the widest audience, he says. Objective, that theater reaches as many people as possible. The ticket price policy gives an idea of this, between 50 and 100 dirhams, without forgetting the free tickets offered for certain sections of the public, particularly students. Thank you sponsors, tickets represent almost nothing compared to the cost of the organization.

Obviously, we want to go further. The CEO of Casa Event agrees. Mohamed Jouahri also notes the ambition to go further. If today, the partnership dates back nine years, we would like to make it long-term. The case also for the Regional Council, first experience with the organizing Foundation, framed by an agreement which runs over three years, which would like to see the event embrace various audiences throughout the Region.

Another no less important coincidence, Masrah Al Hay which is on the program this year. For a return to the stage, with the duo Ajil and Foulane, after twenty years of “distance”, the play “Sedina”, the premiere of which recently took place on stage, opens a new cycle. In the life of the troop certainly, but this number 20 also concerns the organizing Foundation. You said, coincidence!
