The Mediterranean diva

Guest of major international stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Festival of Sacred Music of Fez, the Salle Pleyel, or the Lyric Art Festival of Aix-en-Provence, soprano Françoise Atlan has recorded several discs critically acclaimed. Prestigious interpreter of traditional Arab-Andalusian and Sephardic Jewish music, artist with a dual culture, endowed with a unique vocal expression, style and technique, her Judeo-Berber roots led her quite naturally to be passionate about the Mediterranean vocal heritage. El Kantara, the “bridge”, the “gateway”, invites you to meet Medieval Occitania and Andalusian Morocco: two cultures and two centuries-old musical traditions guided and lulled by the common waves of poetry. A program between troubadour poetry and Andalusian nûba songs from Fèz, songs translated from Occitan to Andalusian, mystical songs or passionate love songs.
