What makes a neighborhood truly interesting, in our opinion, are things that go far beyond craft breweries and wine bars (although we have a soft spot for those destinations at Silo 57).

The most captivating neighborhoods reflect the culture, community spirit, nightlife and gastronomy of their city, all in a vibrant space where you can let your intuition guide you and wander.

For this annual ranking, Time Out took the time to consult its team of editors, asking them which was the coolest neighborhood in their city right now. The selection was then refined based on criteria such as food, arts and local originality.

The ranking was revealed on September 25. The district that therefore won 13th place out of 38 is Saint-Henri. This is the only Canadian neighborhood selected! Pretty crazy though!

Access to the Lachine Canal, the Atwater Market and Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier Square are three other factors that weigh in the balance for tourists going to Saint-Henri.

“St-Henri has been attracting foodies for years with establishments like Bonheur d’Occasion, Foiegwa, Satay Bros, Eva’s and Lloydie’s, but this southwest Montreal neighbourhood is offering much more than delicious culinary options these days,” notes Time Out.

Time Out places the Pererenan district in Indonesia in third place. The Mers Sultan district in Casablanca, Morocco, takes second place.

The big winner is in , : the Notre-Dame-du-Mont district, with its “rebel” decor made up of colorful graffiti, is the winner.
