The Cinema Gallery of the Institut Lumière de Lyon is currently presenting the exhibition Hollywood, the city of women.

Around sixty black and white and color photos represent the most legendary American actresses, in the studio or on film sets. An exhibition to be found in the Cinema Gallery of the Institut Lumière, in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon, from April 23 to June 16.

“Marlene Dietrich, Ida Lupino, Lauren Bacall, Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman, Deborah Kerr, Lucille Ball… so many American actresses with star trajectories who embody the golden age of Hollywood from 1930 to 1955, writes the Lumière Institute on its website. During this period, cinema experienced not only a technical revolution with the arrival of talkies and color, but also an aesthetic and artistic revolution, symbolized by this dream factory.

The original exhibition, mounted in 2016 for the release of the book Hollywood, the city of women by Antoine Sire, was updated in April 2024.
