This is the 12the edition. Each year, Fnac works alongside the NGO Libraries Without Borders (BSF) to organize the “ Big solidarity collection ».

The aim of the operation: to collect as much as possible books in good condition to give them a second life, and thus allow a access to all to the culture and to education.

For disadvantaged populations

So, after being collected and sorted by genre, the books are referenced by BSF according to their condition.

They are then sent to libraries, schools Or associationsto benefit from it disadvantaged populations in around thirty countries, as part of solidarity programs.

These donations have for example made it possible to develop the “My Bag of Books” program which provides newly arrived children with of works selected by their classmates.

The donated books also populate the Ideas boxes, these media libraries in kit deployed in the conflict zonesin the refugee camps or the disadvantaged neighborhoods

Some figures

If they do not correspond to the needs of the beneficiaries of the actions of the Libraries Without Borders association, the books are resold to supportive and committed structures on the second hand market.

THE benefits then serve the sorting financing and sending books to the field. Already more than 2.5 million books have been collected in more than 10 years. This is the equivalent of a stack of books as high as 200 Eiffel Tower.

Every year, it is the largest book collection in France. It lasts until October 6th and thestore from Cherbourg (Manche) is participating. So wouldn’t this be an opportunity to sort out your libraries?
