We go down to Princess Street: all the energy of African youth

Rue Princesse, a legendary place in Abidjan, was bulldozed in 2011 during the “clean country” operation of the government of Allasane Ouattara. Nightclubs and maquis (small restaurants) followed one another over 2 km.

Every week, thousands of party-goers and night owls came to dance there, daring to do anything extravagant, in terms of clothing and more. To the rhythms of the sound systems at full blast and the amazing DJs competing in dexterity, the sorrows and worries vanished, giving way to intoxication, joy, and celebration.

With the 14 performers of his company N’Soheh, Massidi Adiatou recreates this crazy cabaret, full of vitality, also marked by a nostalgia, that of carefree days.

“This show reflects the incredible energy of African youth,” emphasizes Hassane Kassi Kouyaté, director of the festival.

Humming Birds made in Ivory Coast

“Humming Bird”, hummingbird in English, is a symbolic bird. Tiny, therefore fragile, it puts incredible energy into overcoming obstacles. It is also said that it always does its part in its society.

Aboulaye Tresor Konate, an Ivorian choreographer, uses this symbol to compose a show made up of different solos, danced by 11 performers.
