The cultural columnist, TVA Trois-Rivières weather presenter and co-host of Rythme FM, Véronique Lévesque, died Saturday at the age of 29.

Véronique Lévesque died following a ruptured aneurysm that occurred on April 3, when she was 35 weeks pregnant.

“The shock his brain received caused him to have takotsubo, a problem that makes the heart very weak. His body and brain no longer received the necessary oxygen. Despite everything, our little girl Lauralie was able to be saved by an emergency cesarean section and the CHUL staff and is doing miraculously well today,” announced her fiancé, Félix L’Ecuyer, on Facebook.

Véronique Lévesque was transferred to intensive care where she remained in a coma for 17 days before dying on April 20.

“I leave a photo of her which represents her well: a magnificent ray of sunshine, always smiling, proud of her belly which finally made her a mother, the best mother in the world. It is extremely painful to have to say goodbye to the kindest, most empathetic, loving, generous and funny person I know. […] I love you and I will love you all my life. Watch over Lauralie and me, my love,” added Félix L’Ecuyer.

“It’s unfair, it’s cruel”

The announcement of her death created a shock wave in the media world and among all those who knew her.

His colleagues from TVA Trois-Rivières and Cogeco paid tribute to him throughout the day on Tuesday. This is particularly the case of her co-host Karl Blanchard who delivered a touching testimony during his show, highlighting the talent of the young woman and the immense void she leaves.

“We will all miss Véro. It’s revolting, it’s unfair, it’s cruel. For three weeks I have lacked the words to be able to say all this. […] There will be one more star in the sky tonight,” declared host Alexis Samson, his voice knotted with emotion, Tuesday morning on the air of 106.9 FM.
