Two loggers killed and two others missing after raid on Amazonian Indian territory

Information provided by Fenamad, an indigenous organization pioneering the defense of the rights of the country’s indigenous populations, reports Sky News.

The police also said two other loggers were missing and another was injured in the attack. Rescue operations were said to be underway at the site.

An alert given by Fenamad

“The Peruvian State has not taken preventive and protective measures to guarantee the life and integrity of the workers who have been seriously affected,” Fenamad said in a statement on Tuesday. It recalls that the indigenous people had already attacked workers in the forestry industry in July. It adds that it had informed the Peruvian government of growing tensions in this sector, without it reacting concretely.
