Finie leniency. After months of prevention, SNCF controllers will now sanction travelers who do not respect its new regulations for baggage on board TGVs.
Amount of the fine: 50 euros, and even 150 “in the event of obstruction of traffic in the corridors”. On February 15, the railway company had tightened its policy on board high-speed trains to “limit abuses”. While the old regulations simply imposed to users “to be able to carry all of their belongings themselves and at once [leurs] baggage”, the SNCF now limits each traveler to two bags.

These must measure a maximum of 70 by 90 by 50 centimetres. The category concerned includes suitcases, large backpacks, hiking bags and sports bags. It is also possible to add a labelled hand luggage of 40 by 30 by 15 centimetres: backpack, shopping bag or computer bag.

For passengers who carry a “special baggage” (stroller, folded scooter, waterboard, musical instrument in a labeled case, pair of skis in a labeled cover or snowboard in a labeled cover), the size of this must not exceed 90 by 130 centimeters.
