Contaminated cheese recalled by Carrefour across France

Warning – Carrefour recalls cheese contaminated by E. Coli bacteria

Warning if you recently bought cheese at Carrefour: it may be contaminated with the E. coli bacteria. This is the case for a product sold throughout France between August 21 and September 3, 2024, indicates Rappel Conso. The large retail group has just carried out a recall.

These are AOP Chavignol farmhouse goat’s cheeses from the Carrefour quality line. The product is packaged in a pack of two 60 g goat’s cheeses. The recalled batch is GODO0908. The packaging bears the barcode 3245413705556 and the best before date 09/24/2024.

Symptoms to watch out for

“Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) can cause, within a week of consuming contaminated products, sometimes bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting, with or without fever,” explains the dangerous product alert website. In 5 to 8% of cases, severe kidney complications can occur, mainly in children.

If such symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible. On the other hand, if there are no symptoms within 15 days after consuming the products concerned, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor. As a precaution, it is therefore not recommended to consult this contaminated cheese.
