It was with a personal and moving message on the Kensington Palace Instagram account that the Princess of Wales announced the end of her cancer treatment. In a very staged autumnal video, we can see her with her three children and her husband Prince William in the forest.
The princess describes the “turbulent waters” of her cancer experience as “complex, scary and unpredictable.” She says, “With humility, it also confronts you with your own vulnerabilities in a way you’ve never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
“As summer comes to a close, I can’t tell you how relieved I am to finally be done with my chemotherapy treatment,” she says in the message that accompanies the video.
The princess is expected to return for a “handful” of visits later this year, possibly including the annual Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph.
But, according to the BBC, palace sources also stress that the princess is not yet ready to resume official duties.
