A male couple were victims of a “homophobic attack” in the centre of the capital

The tragedy took place in the heart of the capital. A man and his partner were attacked and one of them was injured in the head on the night of Friday to Saturday in Paris, during a homophobic attack according to the victims, AFP learned from a police source.

The second victim was also taken to hospital for treatment. He is another man with skin lesions on his arms. The latter explained that he was the partner of the man who had been injured in the head and that they had been attacked by eight people “because of their sexual orientation.”

A “bottle shard blow”

Four people suspected of having participated in the attack and recognized by a witness were arrested shortly after the events. And are currently in police custody, confirmed the Paris prosecutor’s office.

In detail, the police were called out around 1 a.m. for a “brawl” between “about ten” people on the Canal Saint-Martin, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, the police source explained. On site, emergency services treated a man injured in the head after being “hit by a broken bottle,” according to the same source.
