Gisèle Pélicot’s lawyers request the closure of online support funds

This Friday, September 6, Gisèle Pélicot’s lawyers declared in a press release that the family did not want “any online support fundraisers to be opened”, requesting the closure of those already open.

“Mrs. Gisèle Pélicot and her family, whom we represent before the criminal court of Avignon, thank all the people who have sent massive messages of support from all over the world since the start of the trial,” the press release states.

“Nevertheless, our client absolutely wishes to preserve the dignity and serenity of the debates currently taking place before the Departmental Criminal Court of Vaucluse,” we can still read.

Gisèle Pélicot’s lawyers have also called for “the greatest moderation on social networks” and requested the closure of the kitty funds already open.

A kitty launched by Nabilla

This statement comes the day after Nabilla Vergara launched a fundraiser in support of Gisèle Pélicot, which has so far raised more than 30,000 euros. The former reality TV star said on Thursday that she wanted to help the victim “overcome” her husband’s trial and pay her legal fees.

Since Monday, the Mazan trial has opened at the Vaucluse criminal court. The complainant, Gisèle Pélicot, was raped for ten years by more than 51 men, aged today from 26 to 74, contacted by her husband while she was unconscious, having been drugged beforehand by the latter.

On social media, hundreds of messages of support for Gisèle Pélicot have been published, saluting her courage, dignity and strength since the start of the trial. “There should be a kitty so that this woman can pay her legal fees in peace and start her life over. She deserves only the best,” wrote one Internet user on X (ex-Twitter) on Tuesday. “Absolutely!” replied Nabilla, sharing the link to the kitty.
