A year before the Olympic Games, an opening ceremony was already making headlines. That of the Rugby World Cup, at the Stade de France. The arrival of Jean Dujardin, beret on his head and baguette under his arm, in a fashionable 1950s village, had been a highlight. However, the staging, the sets and some of the characters had not convinced at all and the reactions had been very mixed.
“I never thought that my participation in the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup would trigger such a wave of comments, political and media… […] We wanted to celebrate our country, our know-how and the history of rugby,” the actor was surprised to say on his social networks.
Even today, he sticks to his guns. Invited to “Quotidien” on TMC, to defend his upcoming series “Zorro”, he returned to this show: “There was a kind of absolutely awful political recovery. We found ourselves in it when it was totally absurd. We were with volunteers, it was joyful, good-natured.”
