Cn Friday afternoon, the first-year management teacher at the Jean-Perrin public high school in Rezé, a suburb of Nantes, began her class with an announcement that particularly surprised her students. “We came back to class and she just told us that a student had threatened a teacher,” recalls Sofia (not her real name). “Everyone stopped talking, we asked a lot of questions but we didn’t get any more information.”

In fact, on the eve of this weekend, no official communication had been made by the establishment to the approximately 2,000 students and their parents like Patrick (not his real name), who discovered, when he arrived at the gate this Friday to pick up his son, what had happened… two days earlier. In this case, death threats made by a final year STMG (science and technology of management and administration) student against his history-geography teacher. “It’s worrying but we’re dealing with it! We’re going to have to discuss it with the children and feel whether or not there’s growing concern among them. We’re going to debrief as a family. For the teachers, I imagine it’s not easy, it’s enormous pressure. We’re already struggling to get enough, this isn’t going to help.”
