Against violence, free speech: a rule that Flavie Flament wanted to respect with her children in memory of the sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager. On the set of “C à vous”, the 50-year-old journalist spoke yesterday with the writer Mathieu Palain about her book Men lack couragewhich tells the story of a woman who remained silent about the sexual assaults she suffered, before seeing her son become the perpetrator of such violence.

A subject close to the future presenter of “Télématin”, who revealed in 2016 in her autobiographical work La Consolation that she had been raped at the age of 13. “This mother who says to her son: “I’m going to explain to you who I am”, that’s what I experienced with my children, before the release of La Consolation, when I had to tell them,” she recalled, before adding: “For me, it was essential, so that they would not inherit, in one way or another, unspoken things, a secret, because that is something perfectly harmful, but also so that they would know and understand who I was. It is very moving.”
