Five probable cases of botulism were reported this Monday in Indre-et-Loire, indicates the General Directorate of Health (DGS) in a press release relayed by The ParisianThe five people are in serious condition: they are now in hospital in intensive care or intensive care.

Massive recall

“All the cases shared the same meal, where they consumed in particular the same product, canned wild garlic pesto of artisanal production. The investigations carried out showed the lack of control of the sterilization process of these preserves,” explains the DGS. In order to confirm botulism, the food remains of this meal were sent to the Pasteur Institute for analysis. The results should be available within two days.

The incriminated product belongs to the brand “O Ptits Oignons”. After investigations carried out this Monday by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations of Indre-et-Loire with the producer of these preserves, a recall of all the jars manufactured was therefore decided. The jars were sold in Indre-et-Loire during the following events:
