Nine hemodialysis machines were donated to the nephrological intensive care unit of the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona University Hospital Center (CHUJRA) in Ampefiloha on January 21. This equipment, granted by the Minervois Sans Frontières association, aims to improve the quality of care for diseases requiring hemodialysis. “This initiative by the Minervois Sans Frontières association is part of improving the quality of care for diseases requiring the use of hemodialysis,” indicates the CHUJRA communication published on its Facebook page.
According to an authorized source, the arrival of these devices will not only improve patient care, but also increase the number of beneficiaries, particularly those suffering from chronic or acute kidney failure. The Malagasy Society of Nephrology estimates that among the three thousand to four thousand people suffering from this disease in Madagascar, only five hundred currently benefit from a dialysis treatment.
To prevent kidney failure, health professionals point out that a healthy lifestyle is essential. Drinking enough water, eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly are simple but effective actions. However, screening remains crucial, because kidney failure is often discovered at an advanced stage.
