Can we have a second life thanks to cryogenics?

It’s an idea that seems straight out of a science fiction movie: cryogenics. This fascinating process has recently arrived in Europe, and more precisely in Germany. Long reserved for a handful of American billionaires, it is now attracting the interest of the general public.
The principle? Freeze your body at the time of deathin the hope that one day technology can bring you back to life.

This subject is creating a buzz thanks to entrepreneur Anthony Bourbon, who recently expressed his interest in this practice during a media interview LEGEND. His video was massively shared on social networks, dividing opinion between fascination, fear and skepticism.

So, what does the German company actually offer? Tomorrow Bio ? For the sum of 200.000 eurosthis start-up is committed to rrecover your body to the hospital after death, le cool slowly in a specialized center. Then the water in your body is replaced by a cryoprotective liquid, to prevent the formation of ice crystals. Then the company immerses the body in a tank of liquid nitrogen -196°Cwhere it can remain for 50, 100 or even 1,000 years. The goal: to wait until science advances enough to cure whatever caused your death and bring you back to life.

Lots of uncertainties

But be careful, this all remains very hypothetical. Today, science only really allows the preservation of simple cells, such as embryos or gametes. Bringing an entire body back to life is still a challenge that science cannot resolve.

However, some find this idea more appealing than burial or cremation. Currently illegal in , cryogenics is nevertheless accessible in neighboring countries, notably Germany. And it attracts: 700 contracts have already been signed with Tomorrow Bio.
