In Mouans-Sartoux, this Moldovan street art artist mixes trompe-l’oeil and caligraphy

The 35e fresco on the WALL of Mouans-Sartoux will be the last. The Unwhite it association will close six years of street art, Saturday January 25 at 4 p.m., Allée Lucie-Aubrac. “This will be the last performance, confirms Barbara Sesma, co-founder with Christophe Bondue and director of communications. An XXL closing performance with the artist Izzy Izvne. This latest work will remain on the wall for an indefinite period.”

Known throughout the world for her trompe-l’oeil and calligraphies, the Moldovan artist will draw the first preparatory sketches of her work starting today. “The framework of the MUR will remain, to recall six years of history around urban art, specifies the manager. The artist will paint over and overflow onto the entire wall. She will create in calligraphy the contours of the Mouans-Sartoux shape evoking a butterfly. It will draw all around this shape.”

The public will be able to see the evolution of the work throughout the week. “She is a talented artist, underlines Barbara. It was selected by the members. On a technical level she does absolutely incredible things. Mixing trompe l’oeil and calligraphy is quite unique. We like to choose artists from everywhere to show what is being done outside.”

The association in sleep while waiting for better

Created in July 2018, the association invited five urban artists each year to express their talent on a panel measuring 2m70 by 6m50. “The first artists were invited thanks to the solidarity of traders, then the help of the city and the department, and our activities (participation in the organization of the Coul’Heures d’Automne festival, the Fréjus Chalk Festival, guided tours, creation of permanent frescoes, etc.).”

The founders of Unwhite it, for professional reasons, were forced to join and thus abandon the association. “We didn’t have a buyer, Barabara says. But we keep many ties to Mouans-Sartoux. We will keep the association dormant so that we can reactivate it. It was discussed with other urban art projects in Mouans-Sartoux, such as permanent frescoes.”

A friendship drink will celebrate the closing of the MUR and its latest creation (free entry).
