Lézignan-Corbières: amateur painters at the heart of local life

All year round, around twenty members paint at the workshop on rue Hoche, in the city center in premises made available by the municipality, three days a week, the afternoons of Monday, Tuesday and THURSDAY

Under the presidency of Chantal Bourdiol, assisted by the treasurer, Raymonde Munoz and surrounded by other volunteers, the association also participates in local life by proposing actions during various events. This was the case for Pink October with a week-long exhibition that members organized, as they have done every year for many years, in order to contribute to the fight against breast cancer. This year, they also joined forces with the traders’ association (Ucial) during its fashion show day for the same cause. Earlier in the fall, it was at the town hall’s harvest evening that their brushes collaborated to create a collective work around the theme of wine. It was the same at the association forum and at the Christmas market where the association had a stand.

In the projects of amateur painters, a collaboration with the Chai des vignerons is in progress. The cooperative cellar provides them with a space to exhibit all year round, the result of a friendly partnership between the members of the association and the winegrower cooperatives. During the summer season, it is also at the weekly market that you can meet volunteers who exhibit their paintings, while offering introductions to artistic practice. In good weather, members plan to resume their outings to paint outdoors. Raffles with paintings to be won are also organized several times a year to pay for the electricity of the premises and improve the reception.
