EXCLUSIVE. Green light for the installation in of a new MRI and a second scanner

If the municipality already had this equipment, the arrival of two new machines next May will make it possible to better manage the flow of patients and refine diagnoses.

Observers will not have failed to point out that the construction site started several weeks ago right next to the scanner and the MRI, behind the Saint-Loup hospital, was necessarily hiding something. Today, we know.

€3 million invested in the project

Radiologist Pierre-Yves Daclin and his six associates have in fact obtained the official green light from the health authorities to install an additional scanner by the summer, as well as a state-of-the-art MRI. This brings the number to two scanners and as many MRIs for the municipality of alone, news which we will obviously welcome.

The group of radiologists invested nearly 3 million euros in a well-executed project. “Today we welcome 23,000 patients per year and we will gradually increase our capacity with this new equipment”warns the practitioner, who has seen his field of action and that of his colleagues expand to territories other than the Agathois country, towards Biterrois and the upper cantons in particular.

The future vision of the Regional Health Agency

In this matter, it is fair to point out that the Regional Health Agency (ARS) has demonstrated consistency by authorizing the installation of these two additional machines in a territory which continues to gain inhabitants, an increase which goes hand in hand with an aging population. An observation which led Imageries Territoires, a private entity which brings together 400 shareholder radiologists, to support Pierre-Yves Daclin and his associates in this matter of the utmost importance for the municipality. “I would like to thank Doctor Daclin and his teams for the energy put into the development of a valuable medical offer for the well-being of the people of Agathois”declared the mayor of Agde Sébastien Frey Thursday January 16, invited that he was to visit the site, ensuring that “the community makes itself available to health professionals to go further in the organization of medical provision in the municipality.” Remember that last week, he announced the construction of a medical center and a center dedicated to small everyday emergencies on the Rochelongue road.

Better diagnosis for prostate cancer

To return to the latest generation MRI which will enter service at the end of May, beginning of June, Pierre-Yves Daclin is delighted in advance with what it will bring in terms of working comfort for the teams. – 38 people in total work at the two Agathois imaging centers –, but also diagnostics: “it will be more precise in osteoarticular, neurology and prostate cancer screening”assures the doctor, these new tools make it possible to integrate artificial intelligence software, valuable for delivering a second opinion.

Gilles D’Ettore speaks again and thanks the doctors!

Should this be seen as a coincidence? Not really. Still, after his wishes addressed to the members of the Agathoise Union last week, the former mayor of Agde Gilles D’Ettore sent several people close to the association, Thursday morning, a text that we have could obtain but which, at the time of writing these lines, had not yet been sent to members. In essence, he says “happy to announce the installation of a new scanner and a new MRI at the Agde radiology center, after five years of a long fight led alongside these specialist doctors.” He believes that with this equipment, “the health service is taking a considerable step forward in our town, with the impetus of the public hospital. Life in the town will further improve. Thank you to the radiologists for their commitment alongside Gilles D’Ettore (sic), who has always favored team spirit.” An outing that is sure to get people reacting!
