Over the coming weeks, the Annette Cimon Lebel Foundation will offer various workshops to equip people with cancer to cope with the disease.
New; yoga classes will take place starting January 16, from 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Notre-Dame-du-Portage. They will be offered online, Mondays, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Led by a yoga teacher who has received specific training for people with cancer, they help reduce stress, increase mobility and flexibility, reduced fatigue and sleep disorders as well as improved connection to oneself.
In the form of a monthly coffee meeting between people living or having experienced cancer, workshops will be offered in a hybrid format, either in person in Rivière-du-Loup and online, starting next Tuesday, January 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Several themes will be addressed by the foundation’s psychosocial worker, Isabelle Caillouette. Participants will be able to discuss different aspects of their cancer experience.
The Annette Cimon Lebel Foundation will also offer workshops on managing anxiety after cancer treatments. They will take place online, starting Tuesday, January 21, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. These workshops are offered to anyone who has experienced cancer and completed their treatments, or who is about to complete them. They will be hosted by Isabelle Caillouette. Offered free of charge by the foundation, these workshops will also encourage exchanges and reflections between participants. This way, they will be able to share their experiences and support each other.
Here are the themes and dates of the workshops: January 21 will be presented “Origin and usefulness of fear (Where do our fears, stress and worry come from? What are they for?)”, February 4 will take place “ Stressors (let’s demystify stressors, are they really useful? What needs do they meet?)”, February 18 will be given “Living with our fears, is it possible? (strategies for facing our fears or our stressors, or perhaps even welcoming them in constructive ways)” and to finish, on March 4, “What now? How can we transpose these strategies into our daily lives?
The Annette Cimon Lebel Foundation has financially helped people with cancer since 1995. In 2022, the Foundation decided to improve its service offering, by offering psychosocial support with a counselor and workshops.
