The defeat this Sunday of Gris Bordeaux constitutes a new setback for Fass, a legendary team in the history of Senegalese wrestling, thanks in particular to the exploits of its first tiger, Mbaye Guèye. However, the defeat of too many Ibrahima Dione, whose last victory dates back almost 10 years, risks pushing Fass officials to quickly induct a 4th tiger.
For Gris Bordeaux, the stakes of the fight against Zarco this Sunday were of capital importance. For more than ten years, the wrestler has not found his way to victory, despite a notable debut where he defeated renowned opponents such as Eumeu Sène, Tyson Junior and Bombardier. This series of setbacks against figures like Yékini or Ama Baldé tarnished his career. And this new failure, with a fall close to humiliation, could precipitate his decision to retire from sports, an option feared by many of his supporters.
Unsurprisingly, at the moment when Gris Bordeaux attempted a good hold to maneuver and deploy his “game plan”, Zarco grabbed him with the “nguimb” to send him to the ground by cutting off his left leg. The 3rd Tiger of Fass collapses, thus recording its defeat.
His last victory dates back to May 3, 2015 against Tyson
It should be noted that Gris Bordeaux was in darkness for a decade of scarcity, because his last victory dates back to his fight against Mouhamed Ndao, known as Tyson, from the Boul Faalé stable, on May 3, 2015. After this success, the leader of Fass gave up against Modou Lô from the Rock Énergie stable (July 31, 2016), Balla Gaye 2 from the eponymous wrestling school twice (March 31 2018 and August 27, 2022), and Ama Baldé from the Falaye Baldé stable in Pikine (June 30, 2024). This means that at 44 years old, this umpteenth disappointment is pushing Gris Bordeaux even further. After a decade without tasting the delights of a victory, the leader of Fass-Ndakaru will have difficulty bouncing back. Moustapha Guèye’s successor, who no longer has his twenty-year-old legs, seems good for retirement.
But who to replace him? Two names emerge: Serigne Ndiaye n° 2 and Gris 2.
