Villegly. Breast cancer screening: the mobile on tour across the region

The mobile was back on the territory, Wednesday January 8 at Villegly in the parking lot of the multipurpose room and Thursday January 9 at Montolieu all day. Around thirty patients, aged 50 to 74, had made an appointment in each municipality in order to benefit from a real clinical examination by a general practitioner with a palpation followed by a mammogram. A free, painless test that takes less than 20 minutes.

Prevention

This system aims to go directly to meet patients to prevent breast cancer, which is the most common in women and constitutes the main cause of cancer mortality.

In the country, only 36% of women in this age group have a mammogram every two years. An extremely low figure which fully justifies this initiative. “Many women have difficulty obtaining an appointment. There is also a precarious population who do not necessarily have the idea of carrying out these preventive examinations,” confides Marie-Laure Rouzaud, territorial animation executive at the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

A semi-trailer

The ARS financed the mobile which was entrusted to the Ariège mobile prevention association created especially by health professionals from the Ariège-Pyrénées Professional Territorial Health Community (CPTS).

A semi-trailer more than 16 m long which travels across three departments: Ariège, Aude and Gers. So every month, he stops in Aude for several dates with most recently five stops in November in Bram, Cuxac-Cabardès, Conques-sur-Orbiel, Rieux-Minervois and at the Jean-Montsarrat du Viguier social and cultural center .

Carcassonne Agglo is fully involved in this operation, carried out with the CPTS, in order to provide answers to medical desertification as confirmed by Bruno Giacommel, deputy vice-president for health and access to care at Carcassonne Agglo: “This device makes it possible to bring radiology to patients in rural areas. Poverty and mobility problems do not always allow access to care. The mmmobile, but also the Dalia medical center, which we have set up for chronically ill people without a treating doctor, teleconsultation or even future general practitioners that the Agglo will employ, are different solutions provided to respond to this problem.

The movable will return to the territory a march, after a visit to the east of the department in February.

Making an appointment is simple: just type mammobile Aude on Doctolib or dial 06 30 34 90 90.
