30 hospitalizations in one week, the ARS calls for vaccination

Corsica is experiencing an increase in flu cases this winter, leading to increased pressure on health services. According to the Regional Health Agency, 125 visits to the emergency room for influenza-related illness were recorded over the last week. Among them, 30 patients had to be hospitalized: 21 people over 65 years old, three adults between 15 and 64 years old, and six children under 15 years old, including five under five years old.

The elderly remain the most vulnerable to this epidemic. “Monitoring indicators show a more unfavorable situation than in previous winter seasons. details Public Health in its latest information bulletin.

At the same time, viral infections due to Covid-19 and bronchiolitis continue to increase, fueling health concerns.

A simple gesture to save lives
Faced with this situation, the ARS insists: “It’s not too late to get vaccinated” against the flu and Covid-19. The vaccine remains the most effective means of preventing serious forms. The vaccination campaign primarily targets vulnerable populations, in particular the elderly, pregnant women, infants, as well as those suffering from chronic pathologies.

To slow the spread of winter viruses, the ARS also recalls the importance of barrier gestures. Wearing a mask in enclosed spaces or in the presence of vulnerable people, washing your hands frequently, ventilating rooms, and avoiding close contact in the event of symptoms are all reflexes to adopt.
