The company BIO INXspecializing in 3D bioprinting, has launched a new material called BIORES INX for its portfolio of bioprinting resins. This material would be biocompatible and compatible with the platforms of bio-impression DLP (digital light processing).
First developed at Ghent University, the gelatin-methacrylamide resin (GelMA) has been enhanced by BIO INX and resembles natural extracellular matrix.
The sterile resin meets ISO 10993-5 standards for biocompatibility. BIORES INX is distinguished by its liquid state at room temperature, a feature that eliminates the need for heated containers and prevents water evaporation during printing – common challenges associated with gelatin-based resins.
As the second bioresin in BIO INX’s DLP portfolio and the 9th bioresin in BIO INX’s light-based portfolio, BIORES INX reinforces BIO INX’s mantra: “ from light to life ».
« We believe light-based bioprinting is the future of bioprinting thanks to high levels of reproducibility, higher resolution and faster printing speeds “, declared with Dr Aysu ArslanChief Scientific Officer de BIO INX. « Combining light-based printing technologies with the extreme biocompatibility of gelatin is ideal for biomanufacturing applications. Having launched our HydroBIO INX portfolio for high-resolution printing and ReadyGel INX for volumetric printing, the Developing a gelatin-based DLP resin was the logical next step. However, unlike volumetric and MPL printing, where the gelling behavior of gelatin at room temperature is advantageous, it presented a challenge for DLP printing – which we are pleased to have overcome with this latest innovation ».
BIORES INX comes in the form of a sterile, ready-to-use kit, accompanied by a detailed application manual, in accordance with the company’s “plug & print” principle.
The launch of BIORES INX also demonstrates BIO INX’s commitment to providing cross-platform compatibility. With equivalent gelatin formulations now available across four different bioprinting platforms, researchers and biomanufacturers can seamlessly transfer their work from one technology to another, improving efficiency and scalability.
