Breaking the taboo: Henriette transforms lives by providing information about HIV and AIDS in Namibia

Henriette’s dual experience as a peer counselor and as a medical student interning in hospitals with patients in the late stages of AIDS has strengthened her determination to do more to prevent HIV and shape a better future for young people in Namibia.

For her, the fight against HIV is not just about raising awareness: it is also about pushing people to change their mindset. “We need to normalize knowing your HIV status,” says Henriette, emphasizing the importance of regular screening and early prevention.

She also campaigns for greater participation of young people in local initiatives. “By joining a program or an NGO, you not only help others, you also learn a lot about your own health and you can encourage your friends to take an interest in it too. »

The message she wants to send is clear: HIV prevention requires collective efforts. Whether through education, peer counseling, advocacy, or conversations with friends, everyone has a role to play in breaking the taboo and preventing new infections.
