« December Solidarity »: EFS Occitanie and the Enfants Cancers Santé association are joining forces to make each blood donation count double.

As part of the end-of-year celebrations, a national campaign encourages donors to give the most beautiful gift, a rare and precious gift, by donating blood. It is in this spirit that the French Blood Establishment Occitanie and the Enfants Cancers Santé Occitanie association signed an agreement on December 3 which unites the two structures around a joint operation entitled “December Solidarity”. From December 16 to 29, the EFS undertakes to pay €1 to the Enfants Cancers Santé association for each donor who comes to a blood drive in Occitanie. So, during this holiday season, every blood donation will count double.

“Thus, for each donor who comes from December 16 to 29 in one of the 13 donation centers or the 100 collection points in our region, we will donate €1 to the association. » declares Laurent Bardiaux, Director of EFS Occitanie. “

The donation that EFS Occitanie will make to the Enfants Cancers Santé association at the end of the operation will then be entirely donated to research institutes for the development of new care protocols in the treatment of pediatric cancers.

Professor Anne Laprie, Radiotherapist Oncologist specializing in pediatric oncology, testifies to the importance of the funds raised by the association: “Thanks to the donations it collects, the Enfants Cancers Santé association has supported the work of my team, carried out in collaboration with all radiotherapist oncologists in France. This financial contribution made it possible to prepare a project which will use artificial intelligence to increase the understanding of the mechanisms of relapse of this disease. This is therefore a great help to our research theme on childhood brain tumors. ».

“At the end of the year, blood reserves are often fragile. Between vacations, celebrations and winter illnesses, collection objectives are more difficult to achieve. By partnering with Enfants Cancers Santé, we wish to mobilize citizens of the Occitanie region and convey a message of hope for children with cancer. »specifies Laurent Bardiaux. This unique partnership, promoting EFS Occitanie’s support for Enfants Cancers Santé, will enable the association to continue its progress in its fight against pediatric cancers in a significant way.
