Côtes-d’Armor hospitals: why is the wearing of masks reinforced?

As of Monday, December 16, the instructions for wearing a mask will be reinforced in all public hospitals in the Armor Territory Hospital Group

. The GHT made this decision, “taking into account the current epidemic context (active circulation of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in and in anticipation of the arrival of winter epidemics, particularly covid-flu)”.

Mask required or recommended depending on the sector

Wearing a mask is obligatory in the event of contact with a patient for visitors and accompanying persons in the health sector. This concerns emergency services, medicine, surgery, maternity, medical rehabilitation care.

Wearing a mask is recommended in the event of contact with a resident, for visitors and accompanying persons in the nursing home (accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people) and medico-social sector.

Users are invited to respect these actions to prevent winter epidemics.

“In the event of a cluster (three cases) of acute respiratory infections in nursing homes, wearing a mask is compulsory for everyone (professionals, visitors, accompanying persons, workers, residents leaving the room),” adds the GHT communications department. Armor, specifying that “these recommendations are likely to be re-evaluated depending on the evolution of local and departmental epidemiology”.

* The Armor GHT brings together the public hospitals of Saint-Brieuc, Paimpol, Tréguier, Guingamp, Lannion-Trestel and the Penthièvre and Poudouvre hospital centers (Lamballe/Quintin).
