The Bacchantes on bikes, to fight against male cancer

It was an original break which took place in front of the Cyclable des Angles sign. A small peloton of five mustachioed cyclists, aged 58 to 76, were getting a little pep before their final stage in Aix-en-Provence on fixed gear bikes. The adventure of Alain, Jean Yves, Patrick, Thierry C. and Thierry M. lasted 6 days and aimed to raise funds to fight against prostate cancer. Alan: “We left as a prelude to the 12th edition of the Bacchantes Paris walking race. Running and cycling are associated and we are going to bring our message to Aix-en-Provence in front of 2,300 runners who are used to giving us €10 as a donation. Since 2023 we have collected €600,000 which is donated to research associations managed in particular by oncologists. We talk a lot about cancer in women but you should know that in men after the age of 50, prostate cancer often appears. 8,500 deaths per year and 50,000 cases per year are observed. It is the 3rd cause of death per year. We need to talk about it because sport and diet also help to combat it.”. This adventure produces significant physical effort because more than 100 km per day are in the legs of these mustachioed people who only travel at one speed. The snack break offered by Pascal Collomb from Cyclable made them happy. Exhilarated, they fight the tumor together and love to relaunch their slogan “A non-serious cycling adventure, for a serious cause!”
