6 p.m. news – Cancer: the Medicines Agency bans advertisements for illegal treatments in

The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products is sounding the alarm. In a press release published this Thursday, November 28, it announced that it was taking health police measures against three European companies accused of promoting unauthorized cancer treatments in and Europe. These are the Irish companies Immucura and Immunyo, and the Swiss Iaso Health GmbH.

And even if, according to the Agency, these therapies are likely to “endanger patients”some take the plunge. Interviewed by RTL, Christian, 68, suffering from colorectal cancer, went to Germany to undergo this treatment. “I found this while searching on the internet. We have chemotherapies that prolong life, but we know that at one point, we will no longer be able to walk. So, we think about it to benefit from medical advances. I’m starting to see the effects and I’m in great shape,” he says.

This patient had also discussed it with his oncologist. “He told me that, for the moment, there was no conclusive evidence and that it was a useless and tiring trip. The treatment cost me 18,250 euros, plus the stay in Germany, or a little around 21,000 euros“, explains the sixty-year-old at the microphone of RTL. Christian was ready for anything, because “when they tell you that you are going to go to palliative care and that you still have six months to liveyou think twice.”

For its part, the ANSM suspended “illegal advertising of this therapy until it is brought into compliance with regulations relating to medicines” and reserves the right “to refer the matter to the public prosecutor”
