Respiratory infections: retrospective for the week of November 18 to 24, 2024

The Health Department publishes its weekly retrospective concerning the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.

COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2: decreasing number of cases

During week 47, from November 18 to 24, 2024, the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 cases decreases from 116 to 72 cases, a decrease of 38% compared to the previous week.

The latest available sequencing data reveals that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in October.[1]

Flu (Influenza): increase in the number of cases

The number of influenza cases reported by laboratories increased from 29 to 57 cases, an increase of 97% compared to the previous week. During the last four weeks, there has been 72% influenza A and 28% influenza B among the typed results.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV): increasing number of cases

For RSV, an increase was observed, with 65 confirmed cases, compared to 53 the previous week.

Whooping cough: low number of cases

We recorded no cases of whooping cough in week 47, from November 18 to 24, while the previous week there were 6 cases.
