Saint John. Fond Peyré, first step for the Telethon and a creative project

This meeting is part of the establishment’s first participation in the Telethon.

Among the speakers were Céline Moretto, first deputy mayor responsible for education, childhood and family, Marie-Anne Watremetz, coordinator at the AFM Téléthon for the Haute-Garonne branch, Francette Decline, team member at the Haute-Garonne delegation, as well as Rachel Galinier, who shared her experience of Steiner’s disease. The session highlighted the crucial role of the French association for the fight against myopathies (AFM), the significant advances in medical research and the importance of the Telethon in financing these initiatives.

The speakers detailed the progress made in the development of new treatments. The EAM Fond Peyré, belonging to the Résilience Occitanie association (RESO), opened its doors in 2003.

Currently managed by Véronique Boisselier, who took over as director in 2017, the home is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The establishment accommodates forty-two permanent residents and twelve people in day care, all adults over the age of twenty with acquired brain injuries. Its mission revolves around several essential axes: compensation for after-effects, the well-being of residents, maintenance of acquired skills, support in daily life and social and cultural rehabilitation.

To mark their first participation in the Telethon, residents have embarked on a creative project since July 1: the manufacture of decorative Christmas objects. These creations will be offered for sale during the Saint-Jean Christmas market on Sunday, December 1st. This initiative not only contributes to the Telethon cause, but also highlights the talent and commitment of residents in a solidarity project. The stand will be run by residents, who made the objects, as well as by Telethon volunteers. There you will find Christmas pendants, bracelets, necklaces and greeting cards. The AVF ladies will also be present on the stand.
