The bronchiolitis virus is regaining ground as winter approaches. According to Public Health France, Brittany but also four others (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Centre-Val de Loire, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Paca) joined Ile-de-France last week (which had been there since end of October) and Hauts-de-France (mid-November), in the circle of territories classified as epidemic alert. Note that this stage of vigilance also concerns Guadeloupe, Martinique (since the end of October) and Guyana (since the end of July).
Several viruses in circulation
According to the health institute, “the detection rate of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) in nasopharyngeal samples was increasing in both community medicine and hospitals. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis continue to currently circulate in France, in particular rhinoviruses/enteroviruses.” In mainland France, the other regions (Burgundy, Grand Est, Normandy, Pays de la Loire) are in the pre-epidemic phase, while Corsica is not worried.
The flu is gaining ground, less the covid
Among other viruses, Public Health France notes that “the increase in flu indicators observed (a week previously) continued” again last week “in towns and hospitals and in most age groups”. And to specify that “however, they still remained at their basic level in the majority of regions”. As for the syndromic indicators of Covid-19, they remained “stable in town and in hospital, and this in all age groups”.
