Preventing and living better with diabetes: Recommendations from the Ministry of Health
On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Ministry of Health presented a series of tips aimed at preventing diabetes and improving the quality of life of people who suffer from it.
To prevent diabetes, it is essential to follow a balanced lifestyle. The ministry recommends:
A healthy and balanced diet: favor a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains.
Regular physical activity: do at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, such as walking, swimming or cycling.
Regular medical monitoring: consult a doctor to assess the risks, particularly in the event of a family history of diabetes.
Weight monitoring: maintain a healthy weight by limiting the consumption of added sugars and saturated fats.
Diabetes is a chronic disease that prevents the body from properly regulating blood sugar levels. Risk factors include obesity, lack of physical activity, poor diet, family history of diabetes, and high blood pressure.
To live better with diabetes, here are some simple recommendations to follow:
Follow the prescribed treatment: whether it is oral medication or insulin, it is important to follow the treatment prescribed by the doctor.
A controlled diet: favor vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Limit sugary foods, carbonated drinks and ultra-processed products.
Balanced meals: divide the diet into 3 main meals and 2 snacks, avoiding excesses.
Choose fresh fruit: consume fruit in moderate quantities and avoid industrial fruit juices.
Exercise daily: Get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day to improve blood sugar control.
