Retirement is tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow. By 2030, 30% of the local civil service workforce will leave or have already left.
This big leap is being prepared, like Thursday, November 21, 2024 in the morning, at the Clos-Neuf space, where more than five hundred and fifty territorial officials responded to the invitation from the management center. In Tours, it manages eight thousand five hundred territorial careers, with the exception of those of the Cities of Tours, Joué-lès-Tours, the Department and the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis).
“There is a real concern, that of a new reform”
Despite everything, many agents from Tours and Joué came to inquire, even if they are not affiliated with the management center. It didn’t matter, all the parties involved were present: pension funds, supplementary funds, but also those of the general scheme, the chamber of notaries, as well as health professionals including an optician and a hearing aid specialist.
A period in the private sector before the public
This first forum is inspired by the one held at the beginning of the year in Pantin for territorial officials from the Paris region. Isabelle Montaut, director of the legal department of the management center, was there with Gaëlle Benrejeb, retirement correspondent of this center. “We had the click, recognizes Isabelle Montaut. There is a real concern, that of a new reform, hence the need to take stock. »
Gaëlle Benrejeb knows these retirement issues well since she sees two hundred and thirty people per year in individual interviews.
She takes the time to do simulations, which was not possible in Joué-lès-Tours given the crowds. According to her, there is no typical career because many territorial agents first had some activity in the private sector, if only for summer jobs. These people are therefore “multi-pensioners”. Quite a few people have spent their entire career in the public eye. And these sometimes experienced interruptions.
“There are two types of people: those who prepare, who have created their personal space on the dedicated site, who arrive with specific questions, and the others. Many do not have access to this information because they have little or no familiarity with dematerialization. I sometimes see people without cell phones. The digital divide exists. Questions also relate to progressive retirement, reintroduced during the last reform. But there is a financial loss, so few cases are successful. The financier remains the sinews of war. » This is all the more true for categories C, the lowest.
Agent at the commune of La-Croix-en-Touraine, landscaper, Jean-Claude Mahot came to find out, before leaving in 2027, at the age of 60. He started working early, at age 14. He is one of the lucky ones who will lose little money in retirement. Come on, two more years.
