Respiratory infections: retrospective for the week of November 11 to 17, 2024

The Health Department publishes its weekly retrospective concerning the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.

COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2: slight increase in the number of cases

During week 46, from November 11 to 17, 2024, the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 cases increased slightly, from 104 to 116 cases, an increase of 12% compared to the previous week.

However, the virus concentration detected in wastewater showed a decrease. [1]

The latest available sequencing data reveals that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in October.[2]

Grippe (Influenza): stable case name

The number of influenza cases declared by laboratories remained stable, increasing from 28 to 29 cases, while remaining at a low level. During the last four weeks, there was 67.5% influenza A and 32.5% influenza B among the typed results.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV): increasing number of cases

For RSV, an increase was observed, with 53 confirmed cases, compared to 24 the previous week.

Whooping cough: low level of number of cases

The number of cases of whooping cough, for its part, recorded an increase, going from 3 cases to 6, while remaining at a low level.
