So why cover children with hats and scarves? Sudden changes in temperature weaken our immune defenses. An American study showed that inhaling cold air reduces the production of immune defenses in the nose, decreasing by 40% compared to a warmer temperature.
Is vitamin C effective in strengthening the immune system? No, vitamin C purchased in pharmacies has no proven effect. INSERM researchers explain that there is no point in supplementing with vitamin C, you will not be less sick. On the other hand, vitamin C found in foods is interesting and more than sufficient. Eat oranges and don’t spend your money unnecessarily.
Is drinking a grog effective?
Grog, a rum-based drinkwater or milk, garnished with honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, thyme, or other spices, was invented by an English admiral to limit the alcohol consumption of his sailors. Lemon juice provided vitamin C to fight against scurvy. Although honey, thyme, cinnamon or cloves can help thin secretions with a hot drink, Alcohol has no disinfectant effect on cold or gastrointestinal microbes. Alcohol doesn’t clean our insides any more than it cleans our nostrils.
