Organized by the Séniors Autonomie association, whose headquarters is in Saint-Étienne (), the Défi Autonomie arrives in Lyon, on November 18 and 19 in the prestigious setting of the Opera, in the Presqu’Île. The eighteenth edition of this event, open to all, whatever their age, highlights concrete solutions to facilitate the lives of elderly people losing their autonomy but also those with disabilities.

Exhibitors, conferences, practical workshops, but also inspiring meetings with caregivers, professionals in the sector… Everything is designed to encourage the sharing of good practices and imagine a future where we could age at home for as long as possible ! The question of keeping seniors at home, for their well-being and mental balance, but also to relieve an overwhelmed home care sector, is one of the major challenges of our decade.

The Autonomy Challenge is not reserved only for professionals in the sector! Quite the contrary. Whether you are a caregiver, a senior, a healthcare professional or a student, the event is open to everyone. Even to simple curious visitors!

The solutions proposed are aimed at all those who wish to know more about new trends in terms of autonomy and accessibility to age peacefully at home.

On the program for these two days: practical workshops, conferences, but also meetings with experts in the sector. The goal? Find solutions so that our seniors can continue to live at home, in an environment adapted to their needs.

From home automation to “assistive technologies” (sic), including the training of home help professionals, the event attempts to respond to all the issues linked to loss of autonomy and aging well at home. The event also places particular emphasis on prevention. Hearing and visual health tests and advice on oral hygiene are offered.

And the sexuality of seniors is not left out! The conference “Good under your duvet, good in your head” will take a look at the mental and physical well-being of older people.

To close the event, a play, “Babeth’s Retirement”, will add a touch of humor and lightness. The story of this recently retired woman, who is confronted with the life changes that retirement can bring, should make participants smile while addressing fundamental questions about the transition to old age.
