Abiad launches national vaccination campaign against infectious diseases

The Ministry of Public Health launched the national vaccination campaign against infectious diseases, including poliomyelitis, measles and rubella, on Thursday. This vaccination schedule was put in place in cooperation with Unicef, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Lebanese Society of Pediatrics in Beirut and North Lebanon and private sector institutions.

According to the ministry’s press release, this “campaign is essential to protect children against infectious diseases”, especially since they risk “spreading quickly, especially after the displacement of more than one million two hundred thousand people and the oversaturation of reception centers”.

Therefore, the ministry has tasked a specialized health team to tour accommodation sites throughout the Lebanese territory, in order to administer the necessary vaccines to children aged between zero and ten. years, from November 14 until the end of the current year.

The ministry specified, in this regard, that the first phase of the campaign will be aimed at children who are in reception centers before including all others.

Mr. Abiad, in this context, reported that a “special campaign against the flu will be launched at the beginning of next week”.
