The Hérault prefecture announced, via a press release published this Wednesday, November 13, the strengthening of prevention measures against avian flu in the department. The transition to risk level “pupil” is implemented throughout the metropolitan territory.

“The appearance of HPAI outbreaks in livestock farming combined with the detection of the virus in wildlife has led the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry to raise the level of epizootic risk to its maximum against highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI)” explains the prefecture in its press release.

As a result, several measures have been announced to avoid a new avian flu epidemic:

Since October 1, the 2nd vaccination campaign has been launched in France. Even if “the strains of avian influenza currently circulating in France and Europe have no impact on human health”according to the prefecture, you must be vaccinated for prevention.
