The meeting will take place on November 29 in the hall of Chalon hospital.
The William Morey hospital center (CHWM), a pivotal establishment of the Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire (GHT) Saône-et-Loire Bresse Morvan, is organizing an awareness day on the occasion of Movember, male cancer awareness month, on November 29, 2024 .
Movember takes place every year in November. This event aims to take action for men’s health, particularly to fight against testicular and prostate cancer. These cancers, although less publicized than others, have an equally high incidence rate.
Prostate cancer remains the most common in men with 59,800 new cases in 2018. Early detection and improved treatments increase the chances of cure and reduce potential after-effects. Testicular cancer, although less common, mainly affects men aged 15 to 45, with an encouraging cure rate of more than 90%.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the hospital center lobby will host information stands and discussions with health professionals. Visitors will also be able to attend a demonstration of the Da Vinci surgical robot, illustrating the technological advances of CHWM in the treatment of male cancers.
This event is aimed at patients, their loved ones, healthcare professionals, as well as anyone interested in the subject. It aims to raise awareness, inform and encourage dialogue around male cancers, thus helping to improve the care and prevention of these pathologies.
