Sun Pharma launches the 1st diabetes and cardiovascular risk screening caravan in Fez

Sun Pharma, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Mountada Al Oulfa Association for Family Development, is launching an ambitious awareness initiative through a screening caravan dedicated to diabetes and cardiovascular risks. This action is part of the national prevention campaign under the theme: CHOLE-STOP (Stop Cholesterol): prevention for better cardiovascular health.

Awareness and early diagnosis, a public health necessity

This caravan aims to raise awareness among the population about the risks of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Sun Pharma, as a major player in the healthcare field, intends to play an active role in patient education and promotion of prevention. This initiative emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis of diabetes and hyperlipidemia to prevent serious complications that can result from lack of care, such as blindness, kidney disease, amputations, heart attacks and strokes.

According to the latest data, diabetes affects more than 2.7 million adults in Morocco, 50% of whom are undiagnosed, as well as 25,000 children. Additionally, 2.2 million people are pre-diabetic. These alarming figures highlight the urgency of increasing screening and awareness initiatives.

An ongoing commitment from Sun Pharma

Sun Pharma is not its first awareness initiative. The company has already organized caravans for the early detection of prostate cancer in several cities across the kingdom, demonstrating its continued commitment to the health of citizens. Today, it is expanding its actions with caravans dedicated to diabetology and cardiology, the first edition of which will take place in Fez, followed by other cities across the country.

A three-party partnership for optimal impact

The caravan is made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of the Ministry of Health, which provides the necessary infrastructure and mobilizes qualified medical personnel. Sun Pharma is committed financially and materially by providing its expertise and resources. The Mountada Al Oulfa association for Family Development, chaired by Ms. Touria Faraj, former parliamentarian and health professional, also provides logistical and community support, thus facilitating contact and mobilization of local populations.

The Health Caravan, an initiative for better prevention

The first stage of the screening caravan, led by Sun Pharma in partnership with the Ministry of Health, will begin in Fez. This innovative project aims to crisscross the kingdom, extending to other cities to reach as many people as possible. Each stage will be organized over a full day, providing a valuable opportunity for the local community to raise awareness and get tested.

The caravan program is rich and diverse. Free screening tests will be offered, measuring blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides and creatinine. These screenings will allow participants to better understand their health status and take preventive measures if necessary.

To reinforce this approach, patients will benefit from a free carbohydrate, lipid and renal function assessment. Free consultations will also be offered on site by endocrinologists, accompanied by valuable nutritional advice to guide the population towards a better lifestyle. The initiative also extends to health education, with a practical workshop that will highlight good dietary practices and ways to reduce cardiovascular risks.

This caravan aims to be a bridge between information, screening and support, for better management of public health. It illustrates Sun Pharma’s commitment to putting prevention at the heart of its actions to improve the quality of life of citizens.

A complete medical staff mobilized

The caravan will benefit from the presence of a complete medical staff, including specialized doctors, notably endocrinologists from the Rabat University Hospital and the Fes University Hospital, including the eminent Professor Hinde Iraqi, Associate Professor and member of the SMEDIAN learned society, as well as members of the partner association.

Objective: Screening and support

The aim of this campaign is to promote early diagnosis and reduce the prevalence of diseases related to diabetes and hyperlipidemia. For positive cases detected, a monitoring and support system will be put in place to ensure adequate and continuous patient care.

Sun Pharma thus reaffirms its commitment to better public health and invites the population to take advantage of this screening and awareness opportunity.
