“Diabetes can be detected using a simple test”: in , an awareness day on November 14

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Clinique mutualiste de Bretagne Occidentale is joining forces with the Diabetes 29 association to organize a day dedicated to information and prevention, open to all, Thursday November 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the hall of the clinic, located at the Kerlic health center, in . The Activ’sport association as well as a dietician from the clinic will also be present to host this day.

On the program: screenings, sports activities, diet workshop and information stands on this chronic disease “which occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body is not able to use insulin effectively (the hormone that regulates blood sugar levels) that it produces,” specifies the clinic. In France, diabetes affects nearly 4 million people, “a figure which continues to increase and to which are added the diabetic people who are unaware of it”, insists the clinic. And to emphasize: “However, diabetes can be detected using a simple hair screening test (finger prick)”.
