On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Thursday November 14, 2024, the Diabetology, Endocrinology and Nutrition department of the Le Havre Hospital Group is organizing two highlights.
Information stand and screenings
The first is an information day in the Lézarde shopping mall in Montivilliers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To raise awareness of this disease, its extent but also the means available to treat it, the GHH medical and healthcare team will hold an information stand and offer free screenings.
Thematic evening
The second highlight is a free evening open to all on the theme “Diabetes: when Eating Disorders (TCA) come to the table” which will take place from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the IFP Mary Thieullent in Le Havre. It will be hosted by nutritionist doctors and diabetologists from the GHH as well as the association Les Déesses Sucrées. Eating disorders and diabetes do not mix. It’s difficult to have to juggle between monitoring your blood sugar level and managing your relationship with food. For some people with diabetes, managing a particular diet can quickly turn into an obsession. It can even lead to extreme behavior. On the other hand, people with EDs abuse their bodies, which can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
