Almost a month after the start of the flu vaccination campaign, Health Insurance notes, via a press release, that in Brittany, “almost a month after the launch of the campaign, only 18 .2% of priority people were vaccinated”, which also recalls that “nearly a quarter of the Breton population received a letter covering 100% of the vaccine and its injection, including 78.6% for the people most fragile”.
Declining vaccination coverage
The fact remains that “vaccination remains very insufficient in the region”. Thus, between winter 2022-2023 and winter 2023-2024, vaccination coverage among people at risk of severe influenza fell, in Brittany, from 59.1% to 52.8%. “Far from the objective of 75% coverage”. Because “vaccination also helps avoid hospitalizations and helps prevent hospital tensions in winter”.
Knowing that last winter, in Brittany, “37.4% of people aged 65 and over were vaccinated against covid-19 […] with lower coverage among those aged 65-74 (30.9%) than among those aged 75 and over (44.8%). Health Insurance reminds that doctors, nurses, pharmacists and midwives are “authorized to vaccinate”.
