Respiratory infections: retrospective of the week of October 28 to November 3, 2024

The Health Department publishes its weekly retrospective concerning the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.

COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2: decreasing number of cases

During week 44, from October 28 to November 3, 2024, the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 cases decreases from 215 to 101 cases, a decrease of 53% compared to the previous week.

The latest available sequencing data reveals that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in September [1].

Flu (Influenza): low level of the number of cases

The number of influenza cases declared by laboratories stabilized at 10 cases, unchanged compared to the previous week, while remaining at a low level. During the last four weeks, there have been 47% influenza A and 53% influenza B among the typed results.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV): increasing number of cases

For RSV, an increase was observed, with 18 confirmed cases, compared to 7 the previous week.

Whooping cough: low level of number of cases

The number of cases of whooping cough, for its part, recorded a drop, going from 5 cases to 4.
